A Lavvu style wax cotton canvas tent/tarp: an open sided shelter designed to allow closer fires and better views rather than being cooped up in a tent
Measured sizing:
4 panel is 9'x 14' laif flat which means if pitch around a 6 foot pole it would be approx 7' usable space. Though this depends on pitch height, ground angles, panel pulls etc etc. this allows modified pitch styles for different weather, seasons and trips.
The 4 panel has 6 edges tie outs and 4 panel pulls each side. All leather used is genuine vegetable tan and will patina / scratch up with age, the wax from the fabric maintains the leather well so shouldn't need much in the way of care. The wax cotton canvas fabric is British made 8oz + the wax, other weights available on request.
Can be pitched under a large tripod, using a stick, dedicated tarp pole or with a ridgeline between two trees giving flexibility flexibility for different environments and how far you intend to travel.
Lavvus team really well with a bivy to give protection so not trapped in the bivy if it rains but is usable with just blankets etc if your bushcraft skills are up to it and there's a loop near top for hanging a big net from. Comes with double stitched catenary cut edges and triple fold flat felled seams so it can be pitched taught and smooth quickly and easily with minimal flapping in the wind
Every Thornhill UltraHeavy item made by hand in the Lake District, small batch products from my small business
Custom work accepted - any ideas or adaptations, please message me. I can make in different weight fabrics on request. The lavvu works well in 6oz and can go lower with care
